Doorknocking to Support the Darling Downs

The people of Acland and surrounds have achieved an amazing feat: the first ever recommended rejection of a coal mining proposal by the Queensland Land Court.

The hard work and tenacity of the Oakey Coal Action Alliance and supporters has brought them far in the campaign to protect prime cropping lands and water in the Darling Downs.

Now it is time for us to come together and put due pressure on the state Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Anthony Lynham, to announce his decision on New Acland and finalise the rejection of Stage 3.

The ball is in the Minister's court, and we are bringing our message right to his doorstep.

Join us for a day of doorknocking to build support and visibility for the Acland community and their fight for food over coal.

We will have a briefing on the Acland campaign and important conversation points at the Lock the Gate office in New Farm, before heading out to Stafford in small groups to doorknock key areas in the Minister's electorate.

Lunch will then be provided at the office in New Farm for anyone that would like to stay.
